Opera lovers contemplating a flying visit to Singapore to watch the opening performance of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” on 23 October now have the option of an attractive package deal, commissioned by the Richard Wagner Society (Singapore) and put together by Citystate Travel.
The package is available to parties of ten or more visitors. Besides a top-tier opening night ticket to “The Flying Dutchman” and a post-performance reception graced by Mrs Eva Wagner-Pasquier, the Ambassador of the Bayreuth Festival to Wagner Societies and RWVI President Mr Horst Eggers, the package includes accommodation at one of two city-centre hotels and two guided tours to Singapore attractions. The six-day, five-night package will allow visitors time to enjoy the sights and tastes of the city-state and relax before and after seeing Wagner’s opera.
After six days in Singapore, our Wagnerian friends also have the option of a cruise through the Straits of Malacca which was once plied by the Dutch East India Company. The stop-over in Malacca which was colonised by the Dutch, seems like an apt and charming way to wrap up”The Flying Dutchman” holiday. Prices range from around S$1300 (850 euros) for the six-day holiday and S$1800 (1200 euros) for nine days including the cruise. Please follow the link for full details. Come October, we look forward to welcoming our Wagnerian friends to Singapore.
