A Tale of Two Dalands

The role of Daland is one of four major leads in “The Flying Dutchman”. The seafaring Captain is often portrayed as a pragmatic and materialistic character who barters his daughter, Senta to the Dutchman, for his bride, in exchange for treasures on the Dutchman’s ghostly ship. It’ll be interesting to see how Daland is portrayed in the Singapore-made, Asian-style Flying Dutchman.
