The Finger Players is one of Singapore’s leading theatre companies, known for its visually and emotionally charged productions, and its signature style of puppetry.
Currently, it is the only local theatre company that hires a full-time/salaried artistic ensemble (comprising of Artistic Director, Company Director and 3 Resident Directors/Artists) supported by a team of administrators, producers and associate designers/actors.
The company has won numerous awards such as the President’s Design Award 2007, and multiple Life! Theatre Awards including Best Production of the Year in 2005, 2012 and 2013 respectively.
Internationally, the company has taken its productions to Austria, Australia, China, France, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Kenya, Macau, Myanmar, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and, Turkey, making it one of Singapore’s most prolific international touring companies.
The company also actively encourages arts appreciation in Singapore by cultivating new audiences through its Reach Out! branch, with an average outreach of 85,000 students and members of the public per year.
For pushing the conventions of theatre in pursuit of greater artistic excellence through pioneering efforts in puppet theatre, and effectively using drama to connect with different segments of society, The Finger Players was conferred the Singapore Youth Award (Team) in 2008.
