Jonathan Tay studied at Manhattan School of Music and Northwestern University USA, where he graduated as Master of Music in Vocal Performance. He has performed in numerous operatic roles in the USA and Singapore, as well as concert performances. “The mounting of Richard Wagner’s much beloved “Der fliegende Holländer” in Singapore is a symbol of how Opera is really flourishing here in a bold and exciting way. Just as this work was fabled to be inspired by Wagner’s tempestuous sea journey after crossing the Prussian border, this production is also the result of much hard work and persistence. Even further connections can be made as a nation of immigrants whose forefathers arrived on our shores by sea.
I am honoured to be a part of this endeavour as I steer my way through this beautiful music, which I look forward to sharing with audiences here.”
